GENERAL MANAGER

Mike is a hands-on General Manager, with over 20 years’ experience across the utilities and civil construction industries, guiding the company through responsible and manageable growth.

He is a natural leader, with a solid track record of delivering quality infrastructure projects with a strong focus on safety and client satisfaction. He excels in leading high-performing teams and shaping an inclusive, innovative culture.

Mike has a ‘risk adverse’ approach to business, which ensures all potential company risks are mitigated and managed in all aspects of company performance and compliance. He applies outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve outcomes for clients.

Mike focuses on continuous improvement and staff career development, as evidenced by his establishment of an Internal Training Academy in 2014 to provide centralised training and clear career pathways – resulting in UrbanGrid being a finalist in CFF Training Awards categories including Certificate III and Certificate IV Trainees of the Year, Individual Safety Contribution, Future Leader and Training Employer of the Year.

JOHN BURYCH

OPERATIONS MANAGER

John has more than 20 years’ underground utility installation experience, having worked primarily on the ATCO Gas Distribution System.

Responsible for overall direction and operational performance of onsite operations, he provides positive leadership, coaching and development of the workforce. He is an effective communicator as well as a strong relationship builder.

John’s ability to understand all types of people and situations displays his pivotal role to attract and retain key people, further enhancing UrbanGrid’s capabilities and overall project delivery abilities.

A strong advocate for continuous improvement in the business, he has initiated several key tooling and equipment innovations.

COLIN BUNCE

PROJECT MANAGER

Colin has more than 17 years’ senior experience in managing construction, mining and utilities projects in Australia and Papua New Guinea. He leverages extensive experience working on Australian and international construction projects to successfully manage commercially challenging projects and operations.

Colin’s previous management experience includes the delivery of all facets of the construction lifecycle and ongoing operations. He expertly leads high-performing teams and shapes an inclusive, innovative culture

From managing tenders/bids to construction management and concisely understanding reporting obligations at an executive level, he is well equipped to manage the ongoing development of business.

He has extensive experience in the reporting and management of projects of a government-funded nature and understands the unique outcomes required for continuous supply and minimal disruption.

BRETT TEDMAN

CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Brett has been with UrbanGrid Australia since 2001 and is an experienced and versatile manager, having led teams in the development of innovative solutions for projects in gas, telecommunications, water, power and civil construction sectors.

He has managed a variety of major, high profile projects requiring team leadership, onsite HSE management, and a commitment to quality, on-time delivery. Brett excels when working on major projects to strict deadlines, and in close consultation with all key stakeholders.

Brett provides day-to-day management across all aspects of the operation to enhance business effectiveness. He provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of best practice and strategic initiatives across UrbanGrid. This includes developing and coordinating the team and assisting management with daily operational requirements.

TRACEE COOKE

ZERO HARM MANAGER

Tracee is an experienced senior manager who has managed a team of safety advisors, officers and administrators over the past 5 years.

Highly experienced in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) with post-graduate level qualifications, she currently manages the safety and quality requirements of direct employees and over 500 subcontractors. Downer Network Construction and Maintenance.

Tracee is an accomplished and driven strategic leader who is passionate about and committed to, the growth, development and success of the business with a strong focus on leading positive culture, building best practice systems and delivering sustainable change.

She is a dynamic executive with proven leadership capability in complex, multi-stakeholder projects. She delivers cultural change through positively influencing stakeholders and facilitating development and use of best practice systems and processes.

A member of a National Innovation team, she is always exploring ways to improve systems to work safely, leanly and cost-effectively.

 

ROBERT OLLERHEAD

REGIONAL UTILITIES MANAGER

Robert has more than 30 years’ experience managing contracts, operations, safety and technical areas in the gas and water distribution utility industries in the United Kingdom and Western Australia. He exercises strong leadership and experience in a managerial capacity as a dynamic team-spirited and performance-driven engineering professional.

Robert has a passion to effectively control risk, identify performance issues, communicate and motivate team members, and achieve strategic goals and critical objectives. He contributes analytical and practical field engineering skills, with a focus on engineering detail while making technical contributions. He redeveloped the company’s contracting model following a detailed case study of national and international utility contacting models.

Robert has a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term client, stakeholder and contractor relationships with an emphasis on safety, best practice, innovation, efficiency and outputs.

ELSIE LEUNG

COMMERCIAL MANAGER

Elsie is a qualified accountant and provides a wealth of experience in Commercial Business Management. She takes a thorough and methodical approach to her role and is a valued advisor to the rest of the management team. Her strong commercial acumen ensures that UrbanGrid Australia meets all commercial, regulatory and statutory obligations while ensuring continued sustainable growth.

Elsie has a specific interest in the strategic expansion, preservation, and improvement of procedures, standards and policies to ensure the efficient running of the business. Her contribution to the management team ensures that appropriate levels of commercial analysis and evaluation are applied with consistency.

Elsie takes responsibilities of the provisions of accurate and timely advice, financial reports, forecasts, and budgets, develops business processes and disciplines that ensure the ongoing integrity accuracy and validity of all financial information.
