Mike is one of the original founders of UrbanGrid Australia (formerly Across and Under Horizontal Boring) and has successfully managed and guided the company since 1998 to achieve continuous growth.

His extensive hands-on experience in the utilities, civil and construction industries extends to include all aspects of field operations and project management.

Mike is a natural leader with a proven track record of ensuring consistent and high-quality delivery of projects, coupled with a strong focus on safety and client satisfaction. He plays a central role in driving the company's positive culture and developing long-term growth strategies to ensure economic sustainability.

He was responsible for the success of key utility infrastructure projects such as the Vodafone 'Black Spot Programme', Telstra's enhancement project of St Georges Terrace's heritage landscape ahead of the G20 Summit in Perth, and the Optus Perth reinforcement fibre (ring).

In recent years, Mike has been instrumental in building strong, long-term relationships with ATCO Gas Australia and securing extended contracts on the gas network.

Mike has a strong risk management approach to business, ensuring all potential risks are mitigated and managed throughout all aspects of company performance and compliance.



John has over 15 years underground utility installation experience, having worked the majority of that on the ATCO Gas Distribution System. Responsible for the overall direction and operational performance of onsite operations, John provides positive leadership, coaching and development of the workforce.

He is an effective communicator as well as a strong relationship builder. His ability to understand all types of people and situations allows him to play a key role in attracting and retaining key people, further enhancing UrbanGrid Australia's capabilities and overall project delivery abilities.

John's experience has seen him work across all facets of the Company, gaining an appreciation of where improvements can be made to equipment and work methods to further enhance safety and onsite efficiencies. As a champion for continuous improvement in the business, he has initiated several key tooling and equipment innovations including the adoption of digital gauges and safety mechanisms in service installations.

John plays a crucial role at UrbanGrid Australia ensuring day-to-day operations are conducted safely, efficiently, to the highest quality standards and always remain client-focused.




Ben has over 10 years experience across the gas, HSEQ, training and civil construction industries. An enthusiastic and highly motivated leader, he has a quantifiable track record of developing teams and empowering people to achieve measurable outcomes through visible leadership and strategic implementation plans.

Having fulfilled various roles throughout his career such as Gas Distribution Officer, Training Officer, Training Manager and also General Manager, Ben can draw on a broad range of specialist knowledge and skills to ensure client expectations are achieved and surpassed.

Ben has been directly responsible for the development and implementation of the Gas Distribution Operations Traineeships within ATCO Gas and UrbanGrid Australia. Additionally, he has been responsible for business growth throughout all of his positions, including growing UrbanGrid Australia into one of Western Australia's largest and most experienced underground utility installation companies.

Ben identifies and introduces strategies for improved HSEQ, financial and project performance, delivering measurable improvements in all areas of his work.




Brett is an experienced and versatile Manager, having led teams in the development of innovative solutions for projects in the gas, telecommunications, water, power and civil construction sectors.

Having been with UrbanGrid Australia since 2001, Brett has managed a variety of major, high profile projects requiring team leadership, onsite HSE management, and a commitment to quality, on-time delivery.

Brett has delivered numerous high profile projects including ATCO Gas Australia, NBN, Telstra, Water Corporation and Western Power network replacement and growth projects in both metropolitan and regional areas.

Brett has a diploma in OHS, Cert IV Training and Assessment, Cert III Gas Supply Operations and Cert III Civil Supervision. He plays a significant role in providing technical expertise and knowledge to support large and complex project operations.

Brett excels when working on high profile projects to strict deadlines, and in close consultation with all key stakeholders.




Natalie has extensive experience in the utilities and construction industries. As a HSE professional and COHS Practitioner, she is passionate about creating, supporting and leading a safe and healthy work environment. 

Natalie takes a proactive approach towards HSEQ and is meticulous in evaluating UrbanGrid Australia's lead and lag indicators to facilitate the development and implementation of improvement strategies and indicators.

Natalie is responsible for the coordination of training programs for personnel and plays a crucial role in maintaining compliance across all activities within the organisation.

Her ability to build and maintain positive working relationships combined with a consultative approach has facilitated the development and maintenance of a positive safety culture. 

Most recently Natalie has played a crucial role in the Company achieving third party certification of AS/NZS 4801:2001, OHSAS 1800:2007, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004.





Zhark is a risk management professional with a strong background in safety, quality and environmental practices, and a true passion for safety.

As a former Forensic Investigator and external Auditor, Zhark incorporates qualitative and quantitative risk analysis methods and treatments to enhance project compliance while meeting all site-specific, accreditation and legislative requirements. 

With sound business acumen, attention to detail and solid analytical aptitude, Zhark is experienced in developing, implementing, monitoring and improving policies and procedures over various disciplines. 

Zhark's ability to work methodically, solve problems and meet deadlines combined with over 10 years of investigative experience has been crucial to maintaining HSEQ standards and compliance across all areas of UrbanGrid Australia's operations. 





Elsie is a qualified Accountant and provides a wealth of experience in Commercial Business Management.

Elsie takes an extremely thorough and methodical approach to her role and is a valued advisor to the rest of the management team. Her strong commercial acumen ensures that UrbanGrid Australia meets all commercial, regulatory and statutory obligations whilst ensuring continued sustainable growth.

Elsie has a specific interest in the strategic expansion, preservation, and improvement of procedures, standards and policies to ensure the efficient running of the business. Her contribution to the management team ensures that appropriate levels of commercial analysis and evaluation are applied with consistency. Elsie takes responsibilities of the provisions of accurate and timely advice, financial reports, forecasts, and budgets, develops business processes and disciplines that ensure the ongoing integrity accuracy and validity of all financial information.
